TBC radio broadcasting studio has been ransacked by suspected
LTTE terrorists.
TBC studios in
Harrow,
UK was ransacked and vandalised in the early hours of 25th Nov
2007. There is substantial evidence to prove that this act of anti-democratic
vandalism was organised and carried out by LTTE terrorists. The intruders
forced open a first floor window and entered into the studio premises. They
have severed the cable, which links the TBC studio and the World Radio Network
(WRN) transmission station at 1:45 a.m.

The intruders have ransacked the recording and broadcasting
studios and stolen several thousands pounds worth of broadcasting equipments
and valuable collection of compact Discs. When the broadcasters arrived
at the studios for the morning programme they witnessed the extensive damage
caused by the intruders and informed the local police.
TBC has been subjected to continuous campaign of threats, break
- in, black propaganda and constant intimidation of the volunteers who work
and participate in its broadcasting activities. Abusive telephone calls and
threats to LTTE operatives and supporters are a daily occurrence. Unable
to put forward rational arguments to justify its terrorist activities, its
abduction of poor children while educating the children of their leaders
abroad, extortion rackets, luxury life style of its leaders, imposition of
unconscionable economic burdens on the poor, the LTTE operatives seek to
interrupt the radio programmes of the TBC by using abusive language and
threatening behaviour. While shouting about liberty and
Tamil rights from roof tops, the LTTE seek to suppress any free, impartial and
independent discussion of the problems the Sri Lankans in general and Tamils
in particular are facing today.
However, despite all its elaborate attempts of the LTTE and its
mindless supporters to suppress the TBC and its commitment to free speech,
pluralism, objectivity and human rights, we are confident that they will not
succeed. The rich and profound culture of the Tamil people cannot be
suppressed by a bunch of mindless thugs. The TBC is committed to maintain a
fair, critical and an independent broadcasting service and will continue its
services to the discerning audiences in
Europe,
Middle East and internet listeners all over the world. Our political
discussion programme has been one of the most popular Tamil radio programmes
in Europe.
While we regret the temporary suspension of our services; we
would like to assure our audience that we will resume our broadcast as soon as
we replace the necessary equipments and reinstall our studio.
